well we won xc, so now its time to get out and back into shape in a matter of weeks. im growing my hair out as long as the authorities will let me (theres a limit in our school dress code). homework blows, but at least theres a method to the madness. i thought this bloggy thing would be fun
Clark Gable You scored 28% Tough, 9% Roguish, 19% Friendly, and 42% Charming! |
You're a helluva guy, a real split personality and a bit of an enigma. On the one hand, you're a man's man, tough talking and ready for anything. But on the other hand, you soften your rough and tumble core with a disarmingly smooth exterior, and you make the ladies swoon. You're equally admired by both men and women alike, drinking other men under the table all the while charming the socks off half a dozen lovelies. You're a commanding presence, and you know how to get what - and who - you want when you want it. You're drawn to women who, like you, are savvy enough to deal with the world on their own terms. You work well with spitfires. Leading ladies include Joan Crawford, Myrna Loy, and Jean Harlow. No damsels in distress for you.
Find out what kind of classic dame you'd make by taking the Classic Dames Test. |

I am sorry that i never update. it just seems like theres too much else to do in life, like these addictive thingies:
anyways, life is good for me. school is good. homework sucks, but all my teachers are great, and my classes couldnt be better. the new orchestra director is so awesome. shes getting people to practice that never have before in their ENTIRE LIVES. its good stuff. i mean, so far shes just challenging us with repertoire and getting everyone to play all the notes, but there will come a time for artistic interpretation. cello is so fun. the other day i went home and left my stuff there but i had to come back to school for a quartet performance at the beginning of open house. afterwards i had nothing to do but practice, since my parents were doing all the open house stuff. so basically i practiced the saint saens concerto for like 2 hours nonstop. ive pretty much got the first movement down, including the crazy double stops part. when i was bored i played the allegro appassionato (i just realized that no one knows what im talking about but WHATEVERR) which was this piece i played over the summer and it was super easy after not playing it for a couple months. in other words, im improving. youth symphony is ok, i still have preoblems with my cocky young stand partner who likes to play loud ALL THE TIME. grr its not all about you, eric.
xc is good, we have a meet this afternoon. ive been out with a rolled ankle and some sickness, so this really is my first competitive meet of the year. should be good, i run pretty well in the afternoon.
well ill try to update this more often but whatever.

music camp in minnesota: definetly want to be a music major. considering it as a primary source of income (probably will be second).
family reunion in wisconsin: off teh heezy. i love my little cousins so much. theyre still at that age where anything you do is freaking awesome, even if its like, grabbing their ankles and shaking them upside down (NO THEY ARE NOT INFANTS...cal especially likes being upside down, hes 3). Seeing all my aunts and uncles was great. it was the first time i found myself calling them by their first names (not to their face, but like, "oh, dave went down to the lobby"). that was strange, and i hope they didnt mind. whatever.
now im back home, working again and running in the mornings. im riding my bike to school because my moms still gone (she was doing some graduate school credit-seminar for high school newspaper advisors) and well basically i still have my permit after almost a year. thats ok for now, i enjoy bike riding, and i just discovered an off-road route to my house, which is pretty fun on my 20-lb mountain bike.
So my best friends that are chinese and canadian and awesome and twins are moving to california early september. better find some time consuming, mind numbing hobbies.

Basically one of the best days of summer so far.
Great day at work, we laughed a lot when Aaron heard the USC fight song blaring in the back (he plays in the UCLA marching band). Plate lunch for lunch, watched the incredibles during our 1-hr break (we didnt have much to do). Got home to my HYSA letter, which notified me of acceptance to Youth Symphony I (goood thing). Went to Kahala Mall for the new, excellent Foo Fighters album. Had plate lunch for lunch (man im stufffed). After like 15 minutes of hell on collegeboard.com (you fool, i DO allow cookies!) I discovered my scores on both the math level 2 and chemistry subject tests - 800.
good day, man. now for some cello practice.

I have not updated in approximately forever years. Sorry chaps, i really am.
Where to start... School ended last week (we had three days of finals, which meant five tests for me). This has been the most bittersweet ending to school ever. My two best friends that live here (who are twins) are moving to california before the start of next school year. the bad thing is that theyll be on vacation in china for almost the whole summer, so after they leave next week Ill see them for ten days when they come back. So basically weve been doin a lot of our pastimes: basketball, cards, and Halo. Last night we had a party at one of our friends' houses with a total of ten boys we have dubbed "The Big 10" (its basically our group). Anyways, we had a ton of fun but one of my friends and I had to leave early because.... I got a job working at school over the summer. I work in the music library, and its pretty good stuff. today i had to find all the string insturments that our rich ass school owns. that pretty much meant looking in 200 insturment lockers and checking inventorys. We also erased marked up music. Sure it sounds crappy, but theres good company and the minimum wage is augmented by a never ending supply of junk food.
Speaking of music, my youth symphony audition was sunday (before the party I went to). I think i did decently, but it really doesnt matter, as there are now SEVEN opening for cellos in the top orchestra. Definetly getting in this year.
Oh yea, CONGRATULATIONS MELANIE SIMMS! You win at life, because for you, marching band is life. haha, but seriously, im damn proud of you and I know for a fact that you will be 103287024 times better than our drum majors.

so im reviewing for chem and math today, and im actually feelin pretty good about both. especially since the lowest i can get in math is a 70, which is pretty bad, but hey, i probably will catch a lot of curve from that. chemistry is easy, i mean, weve really learned like 5 different things, everything is like a continuation of the last chapter, so now theres not much to review.
nothing else happened.

Ziegeunerweisen - Pablo de Sarasate |
] |
went to the symphony friday with my man Young Kim. we got to hear the romeo and juliet overture that were playing in ys (good stuff). i was really tired so i went to bed. today played basketball with chens and josh. then i rode my bike home and my derailer was acting up and i was like "screw you derailer, ill just bring it on a lower gear" and it was like "no way, bitches." so basically my chain came off and it was fixed by me, but it definetly needs attention.
then i went to christines party, where justin and i tried to teach her how to be a guy. i must say, christine makes a pretty good male, but i like her better with two x chromosomes. the party was better than expected, but nothing amazing. it did make us want to play holdem (which we shall do next weekend)
finals are coming, and they can go screw themselves. i am officially not giving a shit about them. i want to be a musician when i grow up (major in cello performance) so i guess i dont need to learn what the limiting fucking reactant in a complex chemical equation.
i have decided on something for sure, and kevin and justin are witnesses. this thing which i WILL do will probably haunt me for...mmm...the entirety of the second semester.
and finally, CLAIRE SLEDD needs to learn how to play Pablo de Sarasate's Gypsy Airs (ie Ziegeunerweisen) and record it and then send me a copy because shes so thrilla like that. and because im too lazy to buy a recording, but rather listen to the first minute from a clip off amazon.com.

i would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year. tonight, i leave for london with our school orchestra. it will be most excellent, i am sure. besides the approximately 24 hours it takes to get there (11,000+ miles). we dont get back till the day before school starts.
anyways, got great presents for christmas, not to mention a load of cello stuff my mom bought a few days ago. some i need for the trip, but some are just for funsies, like new strings and the complete elgar concerto (w00t). and i got rotk-ee, which after two hours of viewing, i am less than half way finished.
see you all in 2005.

and by the way
i have decided to drop out of school one i turn 16, then just play cello and sing for the rest of my life. thats really what i want to do: sing. in public. lalala.
